Here at GO DIVING, we’re incredibly proud of our island of Gran Canaria and the diving it offers, we are equally proud of the Wrecks we have here and the legends of Ship Wrecks as well (like spanish gold ships and pirate wrecks). It seems that others are equaly exited about our diving and wrecks and one of these divers is Christian Llewellyn, the leader of an exciting project to dive the “wrecks of the world” and discover the best shipwrecks to scuba dive of the world . It seems the great winter weather and diving has attracted his attention and we are really lucky to have Chris here diving with us as part of his incredible global journey to photograph and document some of the world’s greatest shipwrecks.
Chris, an experienced diver and underwater photographer and prize winner, is traveling the world to capture the beauty, history, and mystery of the best shipwrecks to dive. His mission? To create a comprehensive archive of these fascinating underwater relics and share them with the global diving community.
We are thrilled that Chris has chosen Gran Canaria as the starting point for his journey, and very flattered he decided to start his journey with us at GO DIVING. Throughout his adventure, Chris will be collaborating with dive centers around the globe, including ours, to offer dive enthusiasts the chance to experience these wrecks firsthand. He’ll be sharing his stunning images, videos, and stories from each location—creating an invaluable resource for divers and photographers alike.

“So Chris we would love to hear a little more about your journey and project so please can you explain more about it for us”
Hi guys thanks for the introduction and the chance to talk about my project
I am Christian Llewellyn, I was born in Harrow, Northwest London, and my passion in life is creation. I enjoy sharing my life through various mediums with others. My background revolves around media and art, specialising mostly in graphic design, film, television, and photography.
I became a scuba instructor in 2004 in Cyprus and left there in 2009 as a dive center manager and IDC Staff Instructor. After this point, I was able to focus more on my passion for diving, particularly underwater photography and videography. This led me to work for various scuba publications and online companies.
Currently, social media has given us all a platform to share our scuba diving adventures. It was after a wreck itinerary in Egypt in 2014 that I founded an underwater photography group dedicated to shipwrecks and artificial reefs. Although I had already joined a few photography groups, I thought it would be positive to create a wreck photography group where people could engage in healthy and productive conversations, share images in a safe environment, and provide useful information for others. This includes travel info, marine life found on wrecks, the history of wrecks, and any skills or equipment needed to capture wreck images. As a result, a community has formed that is continually improving people’s photography and diving skills on wrecks. The group, called Wrecks of the World, has grown steadily to 21,000 members worldwide and has been seen as one of the most inspiring underwater photography groups in the global diving community. This is largely due to the broad scope of our members, which includes non-divers who enjoy wreck content, recreational divers, tech wreck experts, historians, marine biologists, photography gurus—the list goes on.
One thing I always wanted for the group was for it to be global. I’ve always dreamed of cataloging all the countries I’ve visited, the wrecks I’ve dived, the dive centers, the history, holding bigger competitions, selling merchandise, releasing more editions of my photo books, and collaborating with like-minded divers. In short, I wanted to make Wrecks of the World bigger and better.
This year, I decided to make that dream a reality. “Wrecks of the World” is going on a world tour, and Gran Canaria will be the first stop on this incredible journey. I’ll be working with dive centers around the world to generate new wreck content for the group and will be involving the community in my adventures. We plan to dive on local wrecks with group members, organize splash photography contests, and much more. The possibilities are endless.
So, if you’d like to follow the adventure around the world and become a member of the Wrecks of the World crew, come and join us today! The links are below.
Plus, once the website is available, you’ll be able to view my global itinerary and contribute your diving adventures on our dedicated world map of Wrecks of the World. So, hunt through your hard drives, find your best photographs, films, and content of shipwrecks, and get ready to be part of something big! Join our true, safe community of passionate wreck diving enthusiasts, and share your love for wrecks with all of us. Come and join my adventure on my global tour and become a crew member.
