Piper Plane Wreck Dive Site: A Deep Dive with Abundant Marine Life
Piper Plane is a small wreck located about a 50-minute sail out of the harbor, near the area of Puerto Rico, and further out into the ocean. The story behind this wreck is that the pilot left Tenerife for Gran Canaria but forgot to fuel up before he left. He attempted to land in Gran Canaria, but failed, and the plane became a wreck on the ocean floor. However, this unfortunate event has turned into an exciting dive site for divers.
Piper Plane Wreck is one of the deeper dive sites we go to with the boat, and it is perfect to do your PADI deep dive specialty. The depth is around 35 meters, and the wreck is small, suffering damage over the years. But what makes the wreck interesting is the abundance of marine life around it. There are plenty of fish swimming in and around the wreck, providing divers with an exciting experience.
Make sure you look at the sandy area around the wreck, as it is the house of angel sharks and sometimes even butterfly rays! If you're interested in a deeper wreck dive with abundant marine life, make sure to book it with Go Diving and our boat ATLANTIS.
